CONNECTING HILLSBORO ADDRESS PROJECT – PHASE 2
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the Hillsboro City Council at or shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in the Shirley Huffman auditorium of the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 East Main Street, Hillsboro. At the hearing, the Council will consider a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro, Oregon.
The City of Hillsboro Planning Department is requesting a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro. The purpose of the request is to reduce confusion in the street grid for emergency responders as well as an important step in the broader effort in meeting the Hillsboro 2020 Vision Action Plan goal of establishing a common Hillsboro address for the entirety of the city. Planning staff have identified and propose the following street segments for potential street name change: NW Evergreen Road renamed to NE Evergreen Road (from NW Glencoe Road to NW Brookwood Parkway); NE 41st Avenue renamed to NE Starr Boulevard (north of NW Evergreen Road); NW Brookwood Parkway renamed to NE Brookwood Parkway; NW Huffman Street renamed to NE Huffman Street; NW Bennett Street renamed to NE Bennett Street; NW Evergreen Parkway renamed to NE Evergreen Parkway (from NW Brookwood Parkway to NW Cornelius Pass Road); NW Imbrie Drive renamed to NE Imbrie Drive; NW Evergreen Road renamed to NE Old Evergreen Court (segment west of NW Cornelius Pass Road); Ronler Drive renamed to NE Ronler Drive; NW 235th Avenue renamed to NE 59th Avenue; NW Pubols Road renamed to NE Pubols Street; NW Westmark Drive renamed to NE Westmark Drive; NW Schaaf Road renamed to NE Schaaf Street; NW Mauzey Road renamed to NE Mauzey Court; NW Jacobson Road renamed to NE Jacobson Street; NW Progress Court renamed to NE Progress Court; NW Century Boulevard renamed to NE Century Boulevard (from NW West Union Road to Sunset Highway/U.S. 26); NW Clara Lane renamed to NE Clara Lane; NW Wagon Way renamed to NE Wagon Drive; NW Five Oaks Drive renamed to NE Five Oaks Drive; NW Casper Place renamed to NE Casper Place; NW Pinefarm Place renamed to NE Pinefarm Place; NW Croeni Road renamed to NE Croeni Avenue; NW Cornelius Pass Road; SW Cornelius Pass Road renamed to NE Cornelius Pass Road (from NW West Union Road to W Baseline Road); and SW Cornelius Pass Road renamed to SE Cornelius Pass Road (from W Baseline Road to SE Tualatin Valley Highway). Maps that show the affected areas of the street name change are attached.
ORS 227.120 and Municipal Code Chapter 9.24 set forth the procedure and approval process for naming or renaming streets. The procedure requires a recommendation from the Planning Commission to the City Council if the Commission feels the renaming is in the best interest of the City. The Planning Commission adopted Order No. 8172 on March 23, 2016, recommending that the City Council schedule a public hearing to consider officially renaming and recording several public street segments. On April 18, 2016, the City Council is scheduled to set the public hearing date on this request for May 3, 2016.
The staff report on this case file will be available on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. The staff report and the applicable criteria are available for inspection at the Planning Department at no cost. A copy of the staff report can be provided at a reasonable cost. Materials can be reviewed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays, in the Planning Department at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 East Main Street, Fourth Floor, Hillsboro, 97123.
All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting and will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning the proposal. Oral testimony will be taken in the following order: proponents and opponents. Oral testimony should avoid repetition of issues. If you are unable to attend you may submit a written statement to the Planning Department on or before the meeting date. Written testimony may be mailed to 150 E Main Street, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123.
