PUBLIC NOTICE The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cascades Field Office of the Northwest Oregon District has completed a Categorical Exclusion (CX) for the 2020 Cascades Field Office Young Stand Treatments Project (Project). The Project proposes to pre-commercially thin approximately 154 acres and prune approximately 20 acres across the Cascades Field Office. Pre-commercial thinning would be completed by hand crews with chainsaws while pruning would be completed with non-motorized equipment. Additional information and the CX for the project can be found at the project ePlanning website: https://eplanning.blm.gov. In accordance with 43 CFR 5003.2, the decision for this Project will be subject to protest after first publication of the notice of this decision. As outlined in 43 CFR Subpart 5003 (a) and (b), protests of a forest management decision must be made within 15 days from the publication date of the decision notice and shall contain a written statement of reasons for protesting the decision. Protests of this decision must be filed with the BLM Northwest Oregon District Office c/o Timothy Lieske, Cascades Field Manager (Acting), at 1717 Fabry Road SE, Salem, Oregon 97306 by close of business on June 12, 2020. As interpreted by BLM, the regulations do not authorize the acceptance of protests in any form other than a written, signed hard copy that is delivered to the physical address listed previously for the BLM Northwest Oregon District Office. The protest must clearly and concisely state which portion or element of the decision is being protested and the reasons why the decision is believed to be in error.
