NOTICE OF HISTORICAL INVENTORY SURVEY GRESHAM, OREGON The City of Gresham’s Historic Resources Subcommittee is undertaking a community history project in the Rockwood and Centennial Neighborhoods. A historic preservation consultant will be doing a Selective Reconnaissance Level Survey of approximately 450 properties built prior to 1970 within this area. This survey will gather information about properties near arterial roads to determine which are potentially historically significant to the community. Survey work will begin no sooner than September 28, 2020 and will be completed by the end of this year. The survey process does not require any contact between residents and the professionals conducting the survey. Information gathered about each property surveyed will include its original construction date, a photograph taken from the street, and a preliminary evaluation of its historic significance. All information gathered will be recorded in the Oregon Historic Sites Database. Please note that identifying these properties through the survey does not designate the properties as historic, and it will not trigger any new regulations on them. The survey gives the City the opportunity to document places important to the community and to Gresham’s history. This survey project was funded with the assistance of a matching grant-in-aid from the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office and the Historic Preservation Fund, National Park Service, Department of the Interior.
