NOTICE OF MEASURE ELECTION AND NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF BALLOT TITLE Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 an election will be held within the boundaries of the Crook County School District. This election will be vote by mail. The County’s designated polling site is located in the Crook County Courthouse, Prineville, Oregon, and will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on May 17, 2022. Notice is hereby given that a ballot title for a measure referred by the Crook County School District has been filed with the County Clerk of Crook County on January 19, 2022. The following Ballot Title shall be submitted to the qualified electors thereof: REFERRED TO THE PEOPLE BY THE CROOK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT BONDS TO INCREASE HEALTH, SAFETY; REPAIR, UPDATE SCHOOLS; ADDRESS OVERCROWDING QUESTION Shall District increase health and safety; relieve crowded classrooms; repair, update schools; improve career technical education; issue $66,000,000 in bonds? If the bonds are approved, they will be payable from taxes on property or property ownership that are not subject to the limits of sections 11 and 11b, Article XI of the Oregon Constitution. SUMMARY Crook County School District will receive State matching funds of $914,494 if bonds are approved Bond funds are expected to finance following capital costs: — Improve Health & Safety: Upgrade locks, secure access systems; Air quality improvements; filtration, heating, cooling; Redesign entrances at Powell Butte Elementary for traffic safety; Asbestos abatement — Update, Repair Aging Schools & Facilities: Electrical, roofing, flooring, plumbing improvements; Repairs, updates to Ward Rhoden Stadium; ADA improvements — Expand Hands On Learning, Student Opportunities: Updates to vocational and performing arts spaces; Upgrades to athletic and weight training facilities — Relieve Crowded Classrooms, Plan for the Future: Additional classrooms at Steins Pillar Elementary, Powell Butte Elementary, and CCMS — Capital improvements including site improvements, demolition, furnishings, equipment; pay bond issuance costs. Bonds would mature in not to exceed 26 years from issuance and may be issued in series. The estimated increase in the tax rate is $0.10 per $1,000 of assessed property value. Actual levy rate may differ due to changes in interest rates and assessed value. A voter may file a petition for review of this ballot title in Crook County Circuit Court no later than 4:30 p.m. on January 28, 2022.
