NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOREST GROVE CITY COUNCIL NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Forest Grove City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. or thereafter, in the Community Auditorium, 1915 Main Street, to hear public comment on a proposal to file a resolution for a local option levy for May 17, 2022, ballot. The measure would replace the current operating levy which expires June 2023. The City Council is interested in public feedback before taking formal action on the proposed resolution to consider increasing the current local option levy rate by $0.35 from $1.60 to $1.95 per $1,000 of assessed property value to maintain core services for five years beginning 2023-28. The proposed measure would replace current local option taxes. The increase in the local option levy rate would cost a typical homeowner with an average assessed value (not market value) of $233,550 an additional $82 per year in property taxes. This is an estimate only. The City Council meeting will be held in a hybrid format allowing the public to attend the meeting virtual via Zoom and in-person.
