REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS DEQ seeks comments on proposed cleanup action for the former Pope and Talbot wood-treating site located in St. Helens, Oregon. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality seeks comments on its proposed cleanup plan to address creosote contamination at and in the vicinity of the former Pope and Talbot wood-treating site at 1550 Railroad Avenue in St. Helens, Oregon. Contamination is present in the soil and groundwater on the property, as well as in the sediment adjacent the site in Milton Creek and Scappoose Bay. The cleanup work is being completed under a consent order with the Port of Columbia County to ensure long-term protection of public health and the environment.
