Final Environmental Assessment & Finding of No Significant Impact

for the Proposed Hillsboro Airport

13R-31L Runway Safety Area Improvements

Interested parties are hereby notified that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved a Final Environmental Assessment (Final EA) and prepared a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed Runway 13R-31L Runway Safety Area Improvements project at the Hillsboro Airport, located in Hillsboro, Washington County, Oregon.

The Port of Portland (Airport Sponsor) proposes improvements to the northern end of Runway 13R-31L and the associated runway safety area (RSA) at Hillsboro Airport (HIO). The improvements would bring the grades on Runway 13R-31L and the Runway 13R RSA, and the other deviations in the Runway 13R RSA, into compliance with current FAA design standards.

The Final EA and FONSI found that the project is consistent with existing environmental policies and objectives as set forth in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment.

In accordance with current Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) regulations, copies of the FONSI and Final EA will be available for review at the following locations through Sept. 30, 2021:
