A sanitary sewer overflow occurred at the City of Hubbard lower wastewater treatment plant, 3607 Sunset Drive, Hubbard Oregon. The overflow began at approximately 01:15 a.m. on December 17, 2024, and was stopped at 08:35 a.m. on December 17, 2024. Total estimated overflow was approximately 60,538 gallons.
A portion of the partially treated liquid sewage reached Mill Creek, and notices were posted on site warning to stay out of the creek and keep pets out as well until further notice.
The public is also advised to wash thoroughly if you come into contact with Mill Creek water.
Mill Creek samples were collected below the spill and test results will be available by noon today. Follow-up samples will be collected on Monday, December 23, 2024.
Hubbard Public Works is taking all necessary steps to limit any public health hazard or potential harm to the environment. Mandatory notice was provided to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Oregon Emergency Response System (OERS).
