The City of Lake Oswego Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chamber located in Lake Oswego City Hall at 380 A Avenue on Monday, January 25, 2016, 6:30 p.m.

The Commission will consider LU 15-0077, a request by the City of Lake Oswego for adoption of the Southwest Employment Area (SWEA) Plan as a Special District Plan of the Comprehensive Plan, with implementing Community Development Code amendments including: a new Southwest Overlay District, replacing LOC 50.05.008 Industrial Park Overlay District; deletion of LOC 50.11.002 Appendix B – Industrial Land Use Policy Element; and deletion of LOC Standards Applicable to Boones Ferry Road/Jean Road Site, Jean Way Site, and Boones Ferry Road/Opposite Jean Way Site. Implementing Community Development Code amendments related to permitted uses will be reviewed as part of the SWEA Plan, but adopted with citywide updates to use regulations, scheduled for a public hearing in April.

The Southwest Employment Area (SWEA) Plan and Code amendments address the light industrial and commercial areas at the southwest corner of Lake Oswego with the goal of supporting private investment, redevelopment, and job growth. This planning project was initiated to implement policy direction from the Comprehensive Plan’s Economic Vitality chapter, which calls to: Maintain land for light industrial uses within the Southwest Employment District and develop a special district plan that accommodates a range of employment uses including light industrial, office and supporting retail.

Staff coordinator is Sarah Selden, Senior Planner (503) 697-6524.

A copy of the proposed amendments is on file in the Planning & Building Services Department at City Hall. Since the time allowed for public testimony is limited, you are urged to review the record and be thoroughly familiar with it if you plan to testify.
