CITY OF HILLSBORO NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CASE FILE NO.: SN-002-20 Street Correction 2020 No. 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the City Council through a Zoom virtual meeting at or shortly after 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. At the hearing, the Council will consider a street name change for one street in Hillsboro, Oregon. The Planning Division is requesting a street name change for one street within the Reed’s Crossing Planned Unit Development located in South Hillsboro. Due to the current social unrest and injustice, staff decided to initiate an Official Street Name Change application recommending to change the spelling of the street name from Chinkapin to the alternative spelling of Chinquapin. Below is a summary of the proposed street name change: Current Street Name Proposed Street Name SE Chinkapin Street SE Chinquapin Street ORS 227.120 and Municipal Code Chapter 9.24 set forth the procedure and approval process for naming or renaming streets. The Planning Commission has recommended to the City Council that the renaming is in the best interest of the City. The staff report on this matter will be available on Tuesday, November 10th at 4:00 p.m. The staff report and the applicable criteria are available for public inspection at no cost, or copies can be provided at reasonable cost, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays, in the Planning Department at the Civic Center, 150 E Main Street, 4th floor, Hillsboro, Oregon. Social Distancing is essential in reducing the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The City is using technology to make meetings available to the Public without increasing the risk of exposure. All interested persons are invited to attend this virtual Zoom meeting and will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning the proposal. The agenda packet will be updated after 8 am with the testimony received via email. Teleconference Testimony: Pre-register to speak during the public hearing by providing your name and phone number, or Zoom name, to the City Recorder’s Office before 8 am on Tuesday, November 17th. During the public hearing, the Mayor will read down the list of those who pre-registered. When the Mayor calls out your name, you will have three minutes to speak. Members of the public using Zoom will not be able to share their screen during the meeting; presentation materials should be submitted as written testimony.
