Kiels Grocery Building (HR2021-0002 / DDR2021-0001)

Pursuant to Section 50.40.4 of the Beaverton Development Code, public notice of the following development application is being provided: Kiels Grocery Building (HR2021-0002 / DDR2021-0001) The applicant, Oldtown Holdings LLC, requests approval of Historic Review and Downtown Design Review applications to add windows to the east faade, replace a door on the east faade with a new window, a new canopy along the north faade and new screening for rooftop mounted equipment. The site is located at 12400 SW Broadway Street, specifically identified as Tax Lot 00470 on Washington County Tax Assessor’s Map 1S115BB. The site is zoned Regional Center-Old Town (RC-OT) and is within the boundaries of the Beaverton Central NAC. The decision-making authority for the above applications is the Planning Commission, which will review the proposal in accordance with the approval criteria contained in Beaverton Development Code Sections 40.35.15.1.C Historic Review and 40.23.15.1.C Downtown Design Review. Given the current COVID-19 crisis the City of Beaverton strongly encourages submitting written public testimony via email to the project planners. NOTE: The City of Beaverton has declared a State of Emergency due to COVID-19 and the Community Development Division is closed to the public until further notice. The Community Development Department is evaluating temporary changes to processes and procedures to respond appropriately to the COVID-19 State of Emergency, and is committed to ensuring that the land use review process continues to fulfill the requirements of state and local law while protecting the health and wellbeing of the community. During this State of Emergency, staff strongly encourages you to submit any testimony comments or questions via email to the Project Planner. Pursuant to Section 50.83 of the Beaverton Development Code, written comments or exhibits submitted prior to the hearing to be submitted by staff at the hearing must be received by the City Recorder no later than 4:30 p.m. on the day of the scheduled hearing. To be made a part of the staff report, correspondence needs to be received by February 23, 2022. The Planning Commission shall conduct hearings in accordance with adopted rules of procedure and shall make a decision on the development application after the hearing closes. Failure to raise an issue in a hearing, by testifying in person or by letter, or failure to provide statements or evidence with sufficient specificity to afford the decision-making authority an opportunity to respond to such issue, precludes appeal to the Land Use Board of Appeals on the issue.
