BUILDING DIVISION FEE SCHEDULES INFLATION ADJUSTMENT

BUILDING DIVISION FEE SCHEDULES INFLATION ADJUSTMENT The proposed resolution for the Newberg Building Division fee schedules are to be adjusted to account for inflation effective April 1, 2023 by City Council. The resolution proposes to approve building division fees to reflect changes in the consumer price index of 6.4%. The 2022 December CPI-U is 298.112. The 2021 December CPI-U was 280.126. The change also establishes a minimum charge of $101.81 for most permits and makes various minor changes to the fee schedules. Permits fees are currently calculated based on the submittal date. The City proposes to use the issuance date to calculate permit fees. The State of Oregon has exempted items that were previously required by code to have a permit. The State of Oregon has now required each jurisdiction to adopt the optional exempted items in order to require a permit. The City proposes to adopt these optional exempted items. These changes will be effective for any permit issued after March 31, 2023. Interested persons may deliver written comments by March 17, 2023 by 12 noon. You may view the changes at www.newberg oregon.gov/building/page/permit-center-fee-updates, or at the Community Development Department office, 414 E First Street, Newberg.
